Extend simple volume with MiniTool Partition Wizard

Speaking of simple volume, we should first come to understand what volume is. Partition and volume are different items used to split disk section. Disk is divided into dynamic disk and basic disk and volume can only be created on dynamic disk while partition can merely be created on basic disk. Volume types include Simple volume, Spanned volume, striped volume, Mirrored volume, RAID 5 volume. Simple volume contains the disk space of the single disk and hardware array volume which is similar to the partition on basic disk. If there is only one dynamic, only the simple volume can be created. Compared with partition, volume has no limitation in size and number. Extending volume with system build-in disk management tool won't harm the volume data. However, user should never extend partition with system build-in disk management tool but employ a third-party partition manager such as MiniTool Partition Wizard which is efficient yet safe.

Dynamic disk and basic disk
1. Dynamic disk allows resizing volume without restarting computer and data loss; basic does not permit changing partition size unless user employs disk management tools.
2. Dynamic disk could merge several inconsecutive disk spaces to one volume and merge at most 32 physical disks into one mass volume while basic disk creates partition only in circumstance when consecutive spaces are available.
3. Dynamic disk could create various volumes and basic disk can merely create 4 primary partitions.
4. Disk configuration information of dynamic disk is stored on disk self which can be copied to other dynamic disks with RAID tolerant system for future use. Disk configuration information of basic disk is stored on boot partition which will be saved to registry when RAID tolerant system is utilized.

Extend partition with MiniTool Partition Wizard
User could download MiniTool Partition Wizard at MiniTool Partition Wizard Download Center and install it to computer.
User would come to the following initialization after running MiniTool Partition Wizard.

It will enter the main interface in a few seconds.

In this main interface, select the desired partition that is to be resized and click "Move/Resize". (NOTE: an unallocated space is a must for resizing partition.)

User should adjust partition size in this interface by dragging the left or right arrows or directly entering accurate values in the textboxes below. After setting, click "OK".
