Resize dynamic partition volume in dynamic disk

We may encounter a situation when using server: It is difficult for us to resize volume because the disk is dynamic disk and there are few dynamic disk managers.

We may store a lot of files in a server. However, after long term use, the stored data may be disordered. Some partitions may be insufficient and others may be not used very well. As to this condition, we need to resize partition. And the professional dynamic disk manager MiniTool Partition Wizard is recommended. With it, we could manage server well because it supports dynamic disks. Then how to resize dynamic partition with MiniTool Partition Wizard? (Note: we should call it "volume" in dynamic disk instead of "partition")

Resize Simple Volume with MiniTool Partition Wizard

Download this dynamic disk manager from the official website http://www.partitionwizard.com/. Then, install it and run it to resize volume.

In this window, we can see that there are many volumes in dynamic disk. We need to extend Simple Volume G: but there is no unallocated space. Therefore, we need to shrink other volumes. For the sake of convenience, we will shrink the Spanned Volume I: (we can also shrink other volumes). Select Volume I: and click "Move/Resize" in tool bar.

In this window, shrink Volume I: by dragging the left black arrows rightwards.

After resizing Volume I:, click "OK" to return to the main window.

In the main window, we can see an unallocated space behind Volume G:. Select Volume G: and click "Move/Resize" to extend Volume G:. After the extension, the following window is shown.

The preview effect shows that Volume G: has been extended. Click "Apply" to perform all operations. And the dynamic disk manager will ask us to restart computer.

Click "Restart Now". In the process of restart, the executing window will be shown.

The computer will restart after the software stops running. And we will finish resizing volume.

Resizing volume is only one function of MiniTool Partition Wizard. With this dynamic disk manager, we can also change drive letter, cluster size, etc. More information about MiniTool Partition Wizard can be got on the official website: http://www.partitionwizard.com
