How to manage multiple disks better ?

As the data amount saved in computer grows, and disk cost decreases, it is common that users employ two or more disks in computer. Then how can we form better management of multiple disks in computer.

Maybe not a few users have already heard of dynamic disk through different roads, but as dynamic disk is not very widely used, many users still know nothing about it. In fact, when managing multiple disks in computer, we should better convert basic disk to dynamic. It is because dynamic disk supports integrating multiple pieces of space from multiple disks as one volume, promoting disk space usage flexibility. Furthermore, dynamic disk also promotes data accessing performance and security. How can dynamic disk promote data accessing performance and security?

We should know that dynamic disk can be divided into various dynamic volumes (dynamic volume is similar to partition in basic disk in function): simple volume, spanned volume, stripped volume, mirrored volume, and RADI-5 volume. Every type of them has its unique merits compared with partition in basic disk, for example simple volume is much improved in volume number and size, and flexibility to resize. Spanned volume integrates multiple pieces of space in disks into one dynamic volume, creating a flexible and efficient environment. But spanned volume requires at least two dynamic disks to be created.

Striped volume divides data into several pieces of the same size, and allocates these pieces to multiple disks it occupies. Accessing these pieces at the same time promotes data accessing performance to a large extent. Same with spanned volume, to create striped volume also needs at least two dynamic disks. Mirrored volume provides us better data security, because when we are saving data in mirrored volume, it will automatically save backup in another disk. Therefore, mirrored volume has very high fault-tolerant feature. It also requires at least two dynamic disks. RAID-5 volume is a very special type of dynamic volume. It improves data accessing performance like striped volume, and has fault-tolerant feature. However, to have this type of dynamic volume, we need at least three dynamic disks.

After reading this article, I believe that you have already acquired certain dynamic disk knowledge. Maybe you have your own views about managing multiple disks. Windows users may ask that how can we manage dynamic disk better as great as we manage basic disk. In fact, it is not difficult, because we have professional disk management software like MiniTool Partition Wizard that completely supports dynamic disk management. As long as we find a suitable partition magic, we can easily manage dynamic disk as we manage basic disk.

After reading this article, we have learned the merits of dynamic disk and the convenient ways to manage dynamic disk. Do you feel like trying converting basic disk to dynamic disk when you have multiple disks in computer?
