How to shrink partition on Windows Server 2003?


When using Windows Server 2003, users may encounter the situation where users want to shrink a large partition and then create a new partition with the unallocated space. How to shrink partition on Windows Server 2003?
Install the server partition software and then launch it. Its main interface will be shown.



Here, we'll shrink Partition F:. Select it and click "Move/Resize Partition" function. The following interface will be shown.



We can shrink partition by dragging the two arrows towards the middle to shrink partition. Here, we drag the right arrow leftwards, as follows.



Click "OK" to go back to the main interface.



We can see there is unallocated space appearing behind Partition F:. Then we will create a new partition. Select the unallocated space and click "Create Partition". The following window will pop up.



Set partition attributes and then click "OK" to go back to the main interface.

From the main interface, users can see a new partition is created. Please click "Apply" to execute the operations.

Actually, users can also realize the effect by using "Split Partition" function, which is simpler. After selecting Partition F:, click "Split Partition" function. The following interface will be shown.



Then drag the middle button to resize partitions and click "OK" to go back to the main interface.



Partition F: is directly split into two partitions. Click "Apply" to execute the operation.
